About the Retreat Centre

A place to relax and enjoy, the centre sits in an acre of secluded orchard and gardens at the eastern edge of the Sierra del Sueve mountain range on the north coast of Spain. With incredible scenic walks directly from the house and the local beach only 5 mins drive or 30 minutes walk away, it is the perfect spot to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.

Welcoming, comfortable and clean, this is a space where you can relax, feel at home, explore and create together, a retreat for artists, walkers, yogis and nature-lovers of every ilk.
Guests are welcome (and encouraged!) to enjoy the gardens and outside space. Whether that is finding a secluded shady spot to practice some meditation, taking an afternoon siesta in one of the hammocks, or picking fresh fruit to make some chutney, enjoy it! When not practicing yoga in the garden or at the beach, there is the bright loft studio available for use.

Accommodation is split between the main house and the Straw-bale cabin. The loft space houses the studio, three twin/double bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Downstairs in the house are two twin/double bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and a large kitchen-diner and cosy lounge area. The cabin has two more twin/double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and its own kitchen, as well as a large outside wooden terrace.
There is also an outside solar shower and non smelly compost toilet with a view for those who wish to use them.

About Asturias

The Asturian people call it the ‘Paraiso Natural’, the natural paradise. And it’s easy to see why. Asturias’ rugged coastline of cliffs and inlets is backed by the rich green forests and foothills that lead to the impressive mountains of the Picos de Europa National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. White-sand beaches nestle between wave-worn limestone and rivers tumble from the jagged peaks that reach to over 2500m (7500ft) just 20 miles from the sea.

The Local Area

Within five minutes walk from the house you can enjoy stunning views of both the coast and the mountains. There are lovely walks directly from the house up into he foothills of the Sierra del Sueve. Less than two-hours walk is the locally famous ‘Mirador del Fitu’, a viewpoint with perhaps the best views of the full Picos de Europa mountain range, as well as the local coastline. Continuing from there for another two hours you’ll reach the summit of the Sueve, ‘Picu Piensu’. At 1159 metres, Picu Piensu is akin to being in the Scottish Highlands and yet is only a couple of miles from the sea.

Strolling downhill from the house within 30 minutes you’ll be scrunching your toes in the soft sand of Playa de Vega, the largest beach in the local area (around 2 Km long). Playa de Vega is a popular surfing beach backed by lush green hills of forest and pasture. It is mostly a sandy beach, but with some interesting rocky areas where one can find fossils in the cliffs and sometimes collect clear pink and purple fluorite crystals. Being on the Atlantic coast, tides are large and at low tide, there is over 100m of flat sand before the sea, perfect for walking, running and playing! Summer sea temperatures average 22-24 °C, just right for cooling off from the warm sun.
